Community briefs: Fort Harrison nurses honored; Blossom advances in Toastmasters; Crittenton expands programs; student news

Two Fort Harrison nurses recognized The Montana VA Health Care System honored two nurses, who are assigned to the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center, with recent Daisy Award recognition. The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes individual nurses and clinical teams throughout the year for their extraordinary, compassionate care. More than 4,500 health care facilities and nursing schools across the United States as well as 27 other countries participate in every year. The two nurses being honored are: Elizabeth “Liz” Estes, a Registered Nurse at the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center, received the nomination for her attentive care of a patient going into an operating room. During the patient’s visit, Liz was one of the RNs taking care of surgical preparation. She patiently and methodically went over all the processes with the patient and explained every step, even covering what was currently happening, what to expect and why each step was important. Moberly Regional Medical Center honors employees for their services

Chad Jaecques, Moberly Regional Medical Center Moberly Regional MedicalCenter Chief Executive Officer Brent Parsons announced several employee awards for their services during the 2020 calendar year. The Directors and Employee of the Year, a DAISY Award, and the March 2021 Employee of the Month were all recognized. Gina Fuemmeler, PharmD, pharmacy director, was named as MRMC s Clinical Director of Year. Linda Schopp, compliance director and interim health information management director, was named the Non-clinical Cirector of the Year. Samantha Thomas, RT(R)(CT)(BD), registered radiology technologist, was named Employee of the Year. Brenda Remole, RN house supervisor, was recently presented a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, and Talara Wagaman, clinic office assistant in Moberly Specialty Group, was named March 2021 Employee of the Month.

The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day. Autumn McCormick, RN, BSN from the surgical pediatric unit is being recognized for her excellent work with patients. She will be celebrating her third year anniversary of working for ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital in August. Her nominator said, “Autumn is an excellent nurse; not only is she knowledgeable, but is always kind and compassionate to both her patients and her co-workers. Autumn has excellent teamwork and is willing to assist other without any complaints. She always strives to be an advocate for her patients.”

LVMC Nurse Recognized as 35th Assembly District Woman of Year

Housing and Development Newsletter Carey was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the Bay Area as a child. She earned a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from San Francisco State University and bachelor of science in nursing from California State University Channel Islands. She began her career at LVMC working as a certified nurse assistant at the Comprehensive Care Center. “I am honored to be included in this wonderful and special group of women from all over California being recognized by our representatives in the California Assembly,” Carey said. “I truly believe that this individual recognition wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible team of healthcare staff at Lompoc Valley Medical Center, and the wonderful patients that I have the pleasure of working with every day,” he said.
