Kate Hall of Casco, Maine has been an inspiration to many as she worked hard to achieve her goals in track and field.
When she was just a freshman at Lake Region High School she knew she wanted to be at the 2016 Olympic trials and the 2020 Olympics.
According to Runner s World, she was well on her way when she competed at the 2015 New Balance Nationals in the long jump achieving a record-breaking jump of 22 feet, 5 inches. This paved the way for her goal of the 2016 Olympic trials where she placed 10th.
If all of her athletic achievements weren t impressive enough, Kate did it all while navigating and living with Type 1 Diabetes. She had to learn to advocate for her unique needs that didn t quite fit what her trainers and coaches were asking of her while attending college.

I m venturing way out of my comfort zone writing this article, I don t usually touch anything political, BUT this actually has nothing to do with politics, only my pride about a fellow Jefferson J-Hawk currently doing amazing things for our Country.
On Inauguration Day I hopped on Facebook to see what was up, and what I found in my Jefferson High School alumni Facebook group, J-Hawks Nest, had me smiling from ear-to-ear.
For those that don t know, I graduated from Jefferson High School in Rockford in 1997, and the lady I m going to tell you about graduated in 1998. I may not have been friends with her, but I certainly remember seeing her face in the halls, and it is awesome to see her slaying goals in her adult life.
