Except for the Christmas I was in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield, it will be the first in 40 years that we haven t been together,” Pettit said. “We usually have a big Christmas Eve dinner with 30 or more extended family members and close friends at the house with lots of good food. I’m going to miss that.”

Florida reports 112 new COVID deaths statewide, 2 deaths in Volusia

The Florida Department of Health announced 11,015 new coronavirus cases and 112 new deaths on Monday. The total cases in Florida now at 1,212,581 and deaths reached 20,680 statewide. Two more deaths were reported in Volusia County and one in Flagler. The total case numbers released Monday followed similar increases last week. The state announced 11,682 new coronavirus cases on Saturday. On Friday, the state announced 13,000 new coronavirus cases, the fourth-highest increase since the pandemic began. On Thursday, the state announced the third-highest daily increase with 13,148.  Thursday s total was eclipsed only by July 12 and July 16, with 15,300 and 13,965 cases, respectively, during what was considered the peak of the pandemic in the state. 

Florida reports 95 new COVID deaths statewide and 2 deaths in Volusia

The Florida Department of Health announced 8,401 new coronavirus cases and 95 new deaths Sunday. The total cases is 1,201,566 and deaths reached 20,568. The state announced two deaths in Volusia County. The total case numbers released on Sunday were lower than recent increases. The state announced 11,682 new coronavirus cases on Saturday. On Friday, the state announced 13,000 new coronavirus cases, the fourth-highest increase since the pandemic began. On Thursday, the state announced the third-highest daily increase with 13,148.  Thursday s total was eclipsed only by July 12 and July 16, with 15,300 and 13,965 cases, respectively, during what was considered the peak of the pandemic in the state.  Volusia County had 167 new cases on Sunday, following the 225 new cases reported on Saturday. The county had its second-highest increase in cases Thursday with 262. The county had its largest single-day increase of 319 cases on Nov. 27.

That increase follows the announcement of 13,000 new coronavirus cases Friday, the fourth-highest increase since the pandemic began. On Thursday, the state announced the third-highest daily increase with 13,148.  Thursday s total was eclipsed only by July 12 and July 16, with 15,300 and 13,965 cases, respectively, during what was considered the peak of the pandemic in the state.  Volusia County had 225 new cases reported Saturday. The county had its second-highest increase in cases Thursday with 262. The county had its largest single-day increase of 319 cases on Nov. 27. Flagler County had 32 new cases reported. On Thursday, the county recorded 42 new coronavirus cases, which is now the third-highest increase.
