A child beggar on the streets of Accra Pulse Ghana
“At the moment, you might have seen a lot of children from other West African countries on our streets. There are contractors who bring [them to Ghana] and place the children at vantage points and supervise them to beg. The Accra Regional Police Command will be looking into that,” ACP Ofori said, as quoted by Citinewsroom.
“The street is littered with children. Sooner or later, we will be descending on the contractors who go to neighbouring countries to bring the children, collect the money and in the end benefit.” Child begging has been rampant in Accra in recent years despite efforts by city authorities to clamp down on the menace.

An attempt by suspected robbers to break into the GCB Bank branch at Fise Junction, near Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region at dawn last Saturday was foiled by an alarm that went off on the premises.
The suspects allegedly tried to cut the burglar-proof window to give them access to a corridor leading to the strong room of the bank.
The quick response by a private security man on duty at the bank caused the suspects to flee.
Inspection
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mrs Effia Tenge, said the police received a distress call at 1:30 a.m. last Saturday about the robbery attempt and quickly dispatched a team to the scene.

Sixteen people died in three separate accidents in three different parts of the country between last Saturday and the dawn of yesterday.
The bloodiest of the accidents, which claimed 13 lives, occurred at Alipe, near Yapei in the Central Gonja municipality in the Savannah, last Tuesday
In the other accidents, two persons died when a Mercedes Benz 207 bus crashed into a faulty Togolese-registered articulated truck parked in the middle of the road at Tesano in Accra at dawn yesterday, while in Cape Coast, a 19-year-old Level 100 Bachelor of Commerce student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Priscilla Owusu Achiaw, was knocked down by a speeding Mercedes Sprinter bus at Ayensudo, near the UCC Satellite campus of the Nduom School of Business and Technology last Saturday. She died four days later from her injuries.
