Sydney has been cut off by all the states after 30 new virus cases were identified in the city s northern beaches, prompting tighter social distancing rules, throwing Christmas plans into disarray and forcing the closure of thousands of businesses during the busiest trading time of the year.
Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, and the ACT all imposed quarantine requirements on travellers from greater Sydney indefinitely, while Western Australia kept its tough border restrictions saying the spread of the cluster beyond the northern beaches could not be ruled out.
Restaurants and bars on Manly Wharf have closed after the coronavirus outbreak.
