ATHENS On Wednesday, April 14, two Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft landed in Greece, the latest result of a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to strengthen the capabilities and efficiency of the National Center for Emergency Care’s (EKAV) air ambulance services.
This $18 million grant is part of SNF’s $500 million-plus Health Initiative and aims to help ensure prompt, safe air transport for ill and injured patients from remote areas of Greece to central treatment locations across the country and Europe.
Thiruvananthapuram: A day after LuLu group chairman and managing director M.A. Yusuff Ali had a miraculous escape when his helicopter made an emergency landing in a marshy plot of land in Kochi while travelling with his wife, accolades have poured in for the two pilots on board the Augusta Westland 109 helicopter and those on the ground who rushed to help.
The couple and two staff members were on the copter besides the pilots when inclement weather forced an emergency landing in a marshy plot of land near the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) at Panangad in Kochi on Sunday.

Kildare people out and about near forests during the Easter holidays have been warned not to light camp fires or barbecues outdoors as they may pose a potential fire hazard.
Last May and June, bog fires blazed and smouldered for a number of weeks in North Kildare.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has issued a Status Orange forest fire warning nationwide.
With warmer and dryer spring weather, dead grasses, gorse and heather become much more flammable and fires can spread quickly from open lands to forests.
