A Newport News man is in custody in connection with a shooting into an occupied vehicle that apparently stemmed from a dispute in a parking lot in the Fishersville area Thursday night. Jordan Crews was apprehended in the early-morning hours of Friday in Staunton and is being held in Middle River Regional Jail on a bundle of felony charges related to the shooting.

(WVIR) - The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has charged two Newport News residents in connection with shooting in Fishersville. The sheriff’s office announced Friday, April 30, that Jordan Crews and Shalayia Johnson were taken into custody without incident at 5:45 a.m. Deputies had located their vehicle at Staunton’s Red Roof Inn, and city officers helped with apprehending the suspects. The sheriff’s office says it responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of Jefferson Highway around 9:05 p.m. Thursday. Deputies found the victim’s vehicle and evidence of a shooting, as well as reviewed video footage from a business in the area.

Ida Belle Puffenbarger, 23, of Churchville, initially went missing last week and was located Sunday. But by Sunday night, she was again missing from her home, a press release said. Puffenbarger is described as being 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds. She also has brown hair and brown eyes. The sheriff s office said Puffenbarger is operating a red, 2011 Ford Fusion with Virginia registration of UGE 4660.

Ryder, 32, faces three misdemeanor charges and one felony petit larceny charge in connection with the break-ins reported in December in the Riverhead Drive area of Staunton. The break-ins occurred between 10 p.m. the night of Dec. 14 and into the early morning hours of Dec. 15th around 2 a.m.
