Akwa Ibom govt begins payment of 40 years pension, gratuity arrears

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Akwa Ibom State Government said it has began the payment of forty years arrears of pension and gratuities of retired primary school teachers and their next of kin in batches. It added that it would make public show of the payment to prove to the people that the payment is real. The Head of Civil Service (HOC), Elder Effiong Essien who stated this in an interaction with journalists in Uyo on Thursday, said the payment started on Monday, April 19, as promised, He noted that the process would continue throughout the week, stressing that the government may stage a public show of the payment to convince ‘doubting Thomases’ that it is sincere with its promises.
