May 27, 2021 Flomaton Elementary School is remembering the 12-year old student that lost his life in an ATV accident last Sunday. Funeral services are Thursday for Logan Bryant Mitchell. Flomaton Elementary teacher Shawna Fillmore shares her heartfelt thoughts about Logan, in her own words: “If the FES school motto were in the dictionary, I would want Logan’s picture next to it. On the first day of school this sweet kiddo held the door for me, and volunteered for all kinds of tasks that he saw and felt needed to be completed. He was an encourager and a friend to everyone. He was bold to speak about Jesus, he was bold to step out from the crowd, and he was bold in that he was a leader.”

May 24, 2021 An all-terrain vehicle crash claimed the life of a 12-year old boy in Flomaton Sunday afternoon. Flomaton Elementary Principal George Brown told our news partners at WEAR 3 that the victim is Logan Mitchell, a sixth grade student at the school. The ATV crash occurred about 5 p.m. on private property in the area of Upper Creek Road west of the Rock Cemetery, about a half mile from Highway 31. He was airlifted by ShandsCair 6 medical helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola where he was pronounced deceased. “At this time the Flomaton Police Department is conducting a lengthy investigation into the total circumstances surrounding the crash,” Thompson said. The Flomaton Police Department and Escambia County Department of Human Resources are investigating. Flomaton Police Chief Chance Thompson said the case will be presented to the Escambia County District Attorney’s Office for review, but at this time no criminal charges have been filed.

Human Trafficking Probe After Woman Found Bloody and Screaming on Road On 12/16/20 at 9:06 AM EST A woman who was found covered in blood and screaming in the middle of the road has led to a human trafficking investigation across three states. Witnesses called police after the distressed and injured woman was spotted standing on Dr. Van Ave in Flomaton, Alabama, back in November. However, when deputies arrived on the scene the woman was picked up and taken by a man driving a white car. Concerned for the woman s welfare and believing the injuries could be serious, an investigation was launched by the Flomaton Police Department, according to a statement issued by the force on Tuesday.

December 16, 2020 The Flomaton Police Department will hold a “Fill the Cruiser” toy drive on Friday. Gift donations for children ages 1-13 can be placed in the Flomaton police cruiser that will be parked outside the police department at 2125 Ringold Street. Gifts should be unwrapped so they can better organized. The gifts will be distributed to local children in need. Any families in the Flomaton Police Department jusrdiction that may need the gifts, or anyone that knows of a family in need, can call the Flomaton Police Department at (251) 296-5811  and ask for the chief of police.
