Steve Yzerman on Red Wings: ‘I see a lot of positive things’

They have struggled to score, and their power play has been atrocious.
But, with a few exceptions, they are playing close games, competing hard and putting themselves in position to win games, despite missing a large chunk of their lineup due to COVID-19 earlier this season.
Overall, general manager Steve Yzerman likes what he sees thus far.
“Our first four games we played pretty well and then right away over the course of a week we lost five players (COVID),” Yzerman said Monday during a virtual event for the Detroit Economic Club. “The decision (by the NHL) was made to keep playing through it and unfortunately we lost every single game (0-6-2 during a two-week stretch).
