FKA twigs has announced that she’s working on her first TV series, a martial arts-based show for FX. “It’s like a martial arts TV series which is very much centred around outsiders,” twigs explains, in a new interview with Michaela Coel for
The Face. “And the idea of wanting to fit in but not being able to.”
“I’ve been putting a lot of research into the way that the Black community and the Chinese martial arts community have a really deep connection,” she continues. “It goes into music: the Wu-Tang Clan came together almost through martial arts.”

The visual platform will donate black historical content from the Hulton Archive for educational purposes

FKA Twigs and Getty Images are working to empower black storytellers by making more images from the platform’s archives available to creatives. Getty will also be pursuing and announcing various projects that will amplify and support black creatives in the coming months.
Getty Images’ Hulton Archive is the world’s largest privately owned commercial archive, featuring a mix of historic stock images and editorial work. The collection goes back to the 1800s, capturing numerous cultural and political movements. This year, Getty will be donating visual content from Hulton for non-commercial use. The donated images will be used for educational and reflecting purposes.
