The province has announced 238 new cases of the virus and nine additional deaths, along with the lowest Winnipeg region COVID-19 case count in over a month.

Out of the 238 cases, 104 are people in the Winnipeg region – the lowest number since early November – and 55 are in the Northern health region, which has been facing outbreaks in First Nations communities. Thirty-three new cases are from the Interlake-Eastern region, 30 are in the Southern Health-Santé Sud region and 16 cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region.

WINNIPEG Manitoba health officials are reporting nine new COVID-19 deaths and 238 new cases of the disease. Announced in the province s daily COVID-19 bulletin on Saturday, six of the deaths are from Winnipeg. A woman in her 70s and a woman in her 80s, both linked to an outbreak at Fred Douglas Lodge, died of COVID-19. One person linked to an outbreak at Park Manor Care Home, a woman in her 90s, died. A woman in her 50s, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 80s, all from Winnipeg, died of the virus too. In the Interlake-Eastern health region, a woman in her 70s died.

There are 238 new cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba on Saturday and eight more people have died from the illness, according to a provincial news release.
That brings the total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 555, nearly half of them within the last three weeks.
Four of the deaths reported Saturday are linked to outbreaks, including:
A woman in her 70s linked to the outbreak at Morris General Hospital.
Two women one in her 70s and one in her 80s connected to the outbreak at Fred Douglas Lodge in Winnipeg.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 13.2 per cent provincially and 12 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on December 19, 2020, 238 new cases of the virus have been identified, which brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 22,630.
