Freo’s Household Hazardous Waste facility officially open
Fremantle’s Deputy Mayor Andrew Sullivan and local MP Simone McGurk have cut the ribbon to officially open Fremantle’s new Household Hazardous Waste facility.
The facility allows for the safe disposal of unwanted household chemicals and other hazardous material like aerosols, batteries and paint that can’t be disposed of in household bins.
The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program is supported by the Government of Western Australia and administered by the Waste Authority. The Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) delivers the program.
The City of Fremantle’s HHW facility at the Fremantle Recycling Centre was funded by the HHW Program.

The Queensland Government via Screen Queensland today announced that Fremantle Australia’s brand-new teen series, Taylor’s Island (working title), will film exclusively on the Gold Coast from July this year.
Taylor’s Island (working title) follows the adventures of 14-year-old Taylor and her tight-knit group of friends as they explore the mysteries of their island home.
It features a diverse female cast anchored by Australian leads and is produced for Viacom, to broadcast on Network 10 in Australia and Nickelodeon internationally.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the production would contribute around $9 million to the local economy and support around 165 jobs which is important for our economic recovery.

Italian twins Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo, who made a splash in Berlin last year with “Bad Tales,” are back on set with dark thriller “America Latina” toplining Elio Germano, who was at Berlin 2020 with two pics: “Bad Tales” and “Hidden Away,” for which he scored a Silver Bear.
Shooting started March 1 on “America Latina.” Its story details are being kept under wraps other than it’s “a love story and like all love stories it’s obviously a thriller,” as the brothers cryptically put it recently speaking to the Italian press.

WA marks first week of vaccination
Western Australia’s COVID-19 vaccination program has got off to a strong start, with more than 2,800 frontline workers receiving their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this week. WA’s Chief Health Officer (CHO) Dr Andy Robertson getting his COVID-19 jab today. As well as being the CHO, Dr Robertson is a frontline medic – part of the Western Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT WA) which deploys to provide health support at disaster sites – often at very short notice.
Vaccinations began within 24 hours of WA taking delivery of its first batch of vaccine.
