FREEPORT, New York As soon as you walk into Bobby Q s in Freeport, the aroma of fresh spices and quality BBQ fills the restaurant with hungry customers waiting to get their favorite dish.
The main chef, Bobby Ford, opened his restaurant Bobby Q s in 2016, hoping to bring quality BBQ to his community.
Ford is a busy man, not only running his restaurant but at the same time working the overnight shift as a police officer.
After spending 10-years working at the NYPD, where he last worked as a detective in the intelligence division, Ford left to join the Freeport Police Department.

Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle made history as one of the first committee witnesses to testify before the Illinois General Assembly via video stream during the lame-duck session in opposition to House Bill 3653, a purported police reform omnibus bill which instead threatens public safety in all of our communities. VanVickle opposed the unfunded mandates included in the bill as well as the process which forced this legislation through the lame-duck session and insufficiently solicited public input.
The Freeport City Council, this past week, backed the Freeport Police Department with a resolution urging Gov. JB Pritzker to veto this flawed bill.

FREEPORT, Texas – Many members of law enforcement have contracted COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March. Over the weekend, Freeport Police Chief Raymond Garivey became one of them.
Garivey was hospitalized Saturday when he developed pneumonia. He remained in the hospital for five days. His doctors released him on Wednesday so he could recover at home.
You may remember Garivey from his connection with a beloved little girl named Abigail Arias.

In February 2019, the chief made Abigail an honorary police officer. The pair then began a friendship that captured the hearts of many in the Houston area. Abigail passed away later that year.
FREEPORT, Texas Santa and Mrs. Claus almost made it on the naughty list this year.
They were out in their convertible sleigh in Freeport, Texas, when they saw lights behind them and not the ones for decoration.
A policeman pulled them over for a broken tail light.
Footage shows a policeman, identified as Officer Willard, approaching the Clauses in their vintage MG convertible and breaking out into laughter.
They were let go with a warning. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus get stopped in their convertible sleigh for having a taillight out, wrote the Freeport Police Department on Facebook. Officer Willard is so excited to see the big red guy, he lets them go with a warning! Merry Christmas everybody!
