In the 14-page document signed by municipal governor Khuong Sreng released on the evening of May 5, the

Man gets one year in prison for violating lockdown measure

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on April 18 sentenced a man to one year in prison for cutting off a barricade tape in a lockdown area in Phsar Depot II commune of Phnom Penh s Toul Kork district last week. This marks the first case that a Covid-19 measure violator has been tried.

Kampot deputy police chief, associates arrested over possession of 2kg drugs

Phnom Penh Municipal Court on April 8 questioned a Kampot provincial deputy police chief and two other associates for possession of nearly 2kg of drugs after Ministry of Interior anti-drug police arrested them on April 6 in Srah Chak commune of the capital’s Daun Penh district.
Deputy National Police chief Mak Chito, who is also deputy secretary-general of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, told The Post on April 8 that the three suspects had been sent to court in connection with nearly 2kg of methamphetamine (ice).
Chito identified the trio as Im Chhuon, 51, Kampot provincial deputy police chief in charge of fire and explosives; Keo Tith Mesa, 21; and Hong Kea, 61. Both men are Chhuon’s associates

Brothers in court for shooting 14-year-old dead with air gun

Kambol district police have sent two brothers to Phnom Penh Municipal Court on March 8 after they were arrested in Lech Wat village, Kambol commune in Phnom Penh’s Kambol district for using an air gun to shoot and kill a 14-year-old boy on March 6.
Police Chief Hang Mony said on March 7 that the brothers were identified as Dut Sokuntheara and Dut Sokun Ravan. The victim is a 14-year-old boy Saroeun Buntha, studying in 8th grade at Bek Chan Secondary School and living in the relief non-governmental organisation Hope Cambodia. The two suspects were sent to court on March 8.

Hanoi (VNA) – Southeast Asian nations continued to confirm new
COVID-19 cases on March 2.
With 42 new cases, mostly local infections,
Thailand has so far logged 26,073 cases, 2,789 of them are imported and there
are 84 deaths, reported the Centre for COVID-19 Situation
Administration (CCSA).
Cambodia also reported 24 more cases, bringing the total local
transmission cases in the third outbreak to 340. The country has so far recorded 844 cases, 478 of
them have recovered and there are no deaths.
Meanwhile, Indonesia confirmed two
cases infected with the SARS-CoV-2 variant found in the UK. Out of its over 1.34 million infections, more than 36,300 have been dead.
