Tampa Bay Rays 2021 MLB Draft preview

share-square-238545 ST. PETERSBURG Since Spring Training, the Rays have seen Luis Patiño, Randy Arozarena, Shane McClanahan and Josh Fleming graduate from their Top 30 Prospects list. They’ve promoted switch-hitting infielders Wander Franco, Vidal Bruján and Taylor Walls to the big leagues over the past two months, perhaps for good. In other words, the Rays have pushed much of their organization’s future into the present in half a season. But guess what? Tampa Bay’s system is still loaded with high-end talent and a ton of depth. The Rays still have potential contributors in the Minors at every level, starting in Triple-A Durham with right-handers Shane Baz, Joe Ryan, Drew Strotman and Brent Honeywell Jr., infielder Kevin Padlo and outfielder Josh Lowe. At Double-A, infielder Xavier Edwards and infielder/catcher Ford Proctor are two of their top prospects.

Biscuits score two in the tenth to beat Trash Pandas

Alabama News MADISON, Ala. – The Biscuits (27-27) had to come back a couple of times, but ultimately took down the Rocket City Trash Pandas (26-29) for a second-straight night, this time by a 4-2 (10) score, on Wednesday night at Toyota Field. Tommy Romero took the mound for the Biscuits against Angels number two prospect Reid Detmers, and the Biscuits right-hander struck out the side in the bottom of the first after his counterpart fanned two in a scoreless bottom of the first. Romero struck out five through the first two innings, and then had seven strikeouts though his first 2.2 innings before surrendering a solo home run to left by Luis Aviles Jr. to put the Trash Pandas up 1-0 in the third. Romero would pick up his eighth strikeout in the bottom of the fourth, after Detmers rung up the Biscuits’ side in the top of the fourth.

Biscuits win inaugural game against Trash Pandas

Alabama News MADISON, Ala. – In what was the inaugural game between the Biscuits (26-27) and the Rocket City Trash Pandas (26-28), the Butter Blue put together an impressive ninth-inning comeback in what turned into a wild 8-6 Montgomery win in Tuesday night’s series opener at Toyota Field. Former big leaguer Chris Rodriguez got the start for the Trash Pandas, and Biscuits lead-off hitter Garrett Whitley tallied the first-ever hit against Rocket City with a hustle infield single in the game’s first at-bat. A few batters later, Miles Mastrobuoni knocked in the first Biscuit run against the Trash Pandas with an RBI-single to make it 1-0 in the top of the first.
