ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - On Friday, Phoebe Putney Health System released its latest COVID-19 numbers.
As of noon Friday, these were Phoebe’s COVID-19 numbers:
Total COVID-19 patients in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital – 39
Total COVID-19 patients in Phoebe Sumter Medical Center – 12
Total COVID-19 patients in Phoebe Worth Medical Center – 0
Total inpatients recovered – 2,105
Total positive deaths from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital – 245
Total positive deaths from Phoebe Sumter – 63
Total vaccines administered – 32,984

AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) - Because of an overwhelming interest in the COVID-19 vaccine, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is working with community partners to expand its vaccination efforts to an off-site location, according to a release from Phoebe Putney Health System.
Starting Tuesday, the vaccination site will be at the National Guard Armory, 901 Adderton Street in Americus. The site will be open Tuesday-Thursday, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and has openings for appointments.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Health System’s top official said Tuesday that the winter surge of COVID-19 has not reached its peak yet because too many Southwest Georgians are still contracting the virus.
“Based on a high number of hospital admissions over the last week, it does not appear we have yet made it through the peak of this winter COVID-19 surge,” said Scott Steiner, Phoebe Putney Health System CEO and president. “Too many southwest Georgians continue to contract the virus, be hospitalized because of the virus and die from the virus.”
