Teacher Appreciation Week Day 4: Honoring local educators

She has been at Donovan for three years and has made a tremendous impact on her students. Along with teaching, she tutors and mentors students in STEM after school in hopes that someday, some of them will enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, or math. It does not get much better than having a teacher extend herself and expose us to further knowledge connected to the real world. Brittany is an inspiring educator as she is the only African American science teacher in the Utica City School District. Prior to teaching science, Brittany earned the honor of a master’s in business administration from Wilmonton University.

UNM-Valencia s Ramsell named Coca-Cola Scholar | Education

TOME — Elizabeth Ramsell, a sophomore at The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus, has been named a 2021 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship for the fall semester. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze Scholars with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each scholar also receives a commemorative medallion. Elizabeth Ramsell Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar “The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges,” said Jane Hale Hopkins, president of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa and make it possible for deserving students to achieve their educational goals.”

RCC Celebrates 61st Commencement With Modified In-Person Ceremony

Reply May 6, 2021 Following the recommendations from health officials, Rockland Community College will host a modified in-person celebration prior to the virtual 61st Commencement ceremony at 3 pm on May 20, 2021. Students and family may attend the drive-in-movie style commemoration during one of two time slots – 9 am and 12 pm – to limit capacity for the outdoor event. Each school will be represented by the Dean of their school and at least one faculty member. Graduates must complete the RSVP form to attend the in-person celebration portion of RCC s 2021 Commencement. To gain admission on the day of the celebration, graduates will be required to show proof of either a complete vaccination or a negative COVID test that was taken within 72 hours of the event. RCC will host three days for COVID testing prior to commencement.

Western Wyoming Community College Announces Outstanding Students

ROCK SPRINGS At the Student Government Association Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 29, Western Wyoming Community College announced two Outstanding Graduates, Mustang Awards, and scholarship recipients for 2020-2021. Western’s Honor Roll will also be published on the website after final grades are submitted.  Western’s Outstanding Graduate is selected by a committee that includes administrators, professionals, faculty, and staff. The nomination criteria and scoring rubric is based on campus involvement, leadership roles, positive impact on other students, and the nominee’s ability to positively represent Western in the future. This year, Western’s committee chose two students for this honor.

 Presidential Scholarships | Full Tuition   The Presidential Scholarship is the highest honor and largest scholarship available at Briar Cliff University. Scholars awarded will receive compensation for the full cost of their Briar Cliff tuition for all four years (8 semesters). Each year, the scholarship is awarded to four incoming undergraduate students who have exemplified academic excellence, outstanding contributions to their community, and extraordinary leadership thus far in their education careers. We believe a demonstrated strong work ethic, along with a willingness to contribute and learn, is a positive indication of an individual’s ability to further develop leadership skills, while also contributing to our campus culture.
