Home delivery and takeaway revenues insufficient to mend traditional hotel business dent
As Singapore moves back into partial lockdown, disabling dining out at restaurants and limiting activities beyond homes, hotels in Singapore brought out their 2020 playbook and stepped up F&B delivery service and takeaways.
Shangri-La Singapore expanded its takeaway and delivery menu, offering 10 cuisines and more than 150 dishes for guests to enjoy in the comfort and safety of their home. To further entice customers, the luxury hotel has shaved 15 per cent off selected items, and lifted minimum spend requirements.

More than 12,000 people currently serving their stay-home notices (SHN) in hotels here last Saturday have begun an additional week of self-isolation at their current location, as tightened border and community measures kicked in.
Hotels serving as SHN facilities have put in place additional measures to help their guests cope with longer stays, while also ramping up their room capacities. But the new rules have left some holidaygoers frustrated, as some hotels that previously catered to staycation guests have been converted into SHN-only facilities and have cancelled bookings.
Last Tuesday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said it would tighten border measures to manage the risk of Covid-19 being imported by travellers and transmitted to the local community.

SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): From offering refunds to absorbing the costs of pre-event testing, hotels and wedding venues have been working to help couples adapt to the sudden restrictions announced on Tuesday (May 4) and which kicked in this weekend.
For weddings this month, Fairmont Singapore will pay the cost of pre-event testing for Covid-19, if couples want to go ahead with more than 50 people, said Kerry Healy, chief commercial officer of hotel operator Accor for South-east Asia, Japan and South Korea.
