FAIRFIELD, CT Plans for a 94-unit apartment complex off the Merritt Parkway can move forward after Fairfield officials signed off on the project Tuesday.
In a 5-1 vote, the Town Plan and Zoning Commission approved the application for the roughly 70-foot-tall building on a 2.3-acre property at 4185 Black Rock Turnpike. I do not see anything that would warrant us meeting the high burden to show this application should be denied, commissioner Thomas Noonan said.

FAIRFIELD, CT Fairfield residents recently spoke out against a nearly 100-unit affordable housing development planned for Black Rock Turnpike, citing concerns about the project s size and potential effect on traffic, flooding and the character of the surrounding area. They have proposed a building that is too big, it s in the wrong location, and it will create dangerous traffic conditions, said Gordon MacKenzie, a resident of the Greenfield Hunt condos, which neighbor the 2.3-acre property located at 4185 Black Rock Turnpike, just off the Merritt Parkway.
LANCASTER - Police say a man was shot during a robbery Tuesday around 1:50 p.m.
They identified him as Mason Byron McGee, 22, of Lancaster. Lt. Brian Underwood said he believes McGee was treated and released from Fairfield Medical Center.
Police said McGee told his girlfriend that he was robbed and assaulted in an alley just west of the 100 block of West Walnut Street.
Upon the call, police were dispatched to 122 West Chestnut St. The police report lists McGee as living in Apt. 1A of that address.
Underwood said officers found guns and drugs there and are trying to determine what part they may have played in the shooting.
