A man has been charged following a nine-hour stand-off with police in Sydney’s south-west.
The incident began about 9.45pm yesterday (Sunday 16 May 2021), when police were called to a home on Torrens Street, Canley Heights, after reports of a domestic-related incident.
Upon arrival, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command and South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad spoke to a 36-year-old man before attempting to taser him.
Police will allege the man fired a shot at officers and a perimeter was established.
Specialist police, including negotiators and the Tactical Operations Unit, worked with officers from Fairfield City PAC to resolve the incident and, just after 6.30am today (Monday 17 May 2021), the man left the garage without incident and was arrested.

Bloody night as five people stabbed in separate attacks across Sydney s west

Police and emergency services were called to a home in Hammers Road and found a 19-year-old man who had been stabbed in the stomach.
He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Man dies in fatal crash – St Johns Park
A man has died in a crash in Sydney’s west and police are investigating several other serious crashes across the state overnight.
About 6.20pm (Friday 7 May 2021), a 45-year-old man was driving a Toyota Echo on Sackville Street at St Johns Park, when it left the road and hit a power pole.
The man and his 81-year-old passenger were trapped as emergency services arrived at the scene.
They were both released from the car, however the man died.
The woman suffered serious injuries to her face, pelvis and back and was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
