“It’s not easy leaving Brazil and choosing to come play in Africa. Under normal circumstances, we want to go there and he wants to come here. He knows why he’s here.
“For me, we should stop the negative talks about him and encourage him. So we can attract more of his likes to help our league look more attractive and professional.
“Kotoko need to encourage him and make him aware of the kind of club he’s playing for. It’s a big team here in Ghana. If he succeeds and goes back to tell his story, it could lure others to join our local league.
Kotoko midfielder Fabio Gama Former Asante Kotoko star Charles Taylor has urged Brazilian midfielder to shut his ears to the criticisms that will be made against him.
According to Taylor, a key factor that will determine how Fabio’s Kotoko career unfolds is how the Brazilian will deal with the criticism that will come from the fans and the media.
He observed that the midfielder has started his career well and will need to toughen up mentally and physically to deal with the pressure that comes with playing for Asante Kotoko.
“I will advice Gama to focus on his football. He should continue to do his best and I believe he will come good with time. He should be focused and not pay attention to the critics”, he told Pure FM.
Kotoko coach explains Fabio Gama’s substitution in Aduana defeat
Interim coach of Asante Kotoko, Johnson Smith has revealed that he had to replace Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama in the second half to protect him.
Gama was replaced by Naby Keita after 70 minutes of action at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Three minutes after he was substituted, Samuel Bio scored the winner for Aduana Stars to inflict Kotoko their first home defeat of the season.
Gama was lively for the Reds but Coach Johnson Smith feared the Brazilian will be injured following the tackles he received from players of Aduana.
“The boy is being bullied so much so we need someone strong who can support Poku because Poku struggles all alone up front,” he said after the game.
