Leipzig defender signed to replace Konate admits dream is to join Liverpool

Georginio Wijnaldum explains why he chose PSG over Barcelona

Georginio Wijnaldum explains why he chose PSG over Barcelona Share this story Photo by UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images Georginio Wijnaldum has explained why he opted to move to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer rather than join Barcelona. The midfielder appeared set to head to the Camp Nou after his contract with Liverpool expired but instead chose PSG after the Ligue 1 side made a late move. There have been reports that PSG offered a far more generous salary than Barca, but Wijnaldum says that’s not the only reason he opted for the French capital. “I see the media talking only about the salary, but it’s not true. PSG was simply faster. They told me about their project and I liked it. I felt appreciated. And so I told Ronald Koeman too. I admit that at PSG I will make more money, but that is not the only reason.
