Former Major League Baseball Commissioner Fay Vincent criticized the unnecessary Georgia boycott by Robert Manfred, who is the MLB s current commissioner who authorized moving its All-Star game from Atlanta in Georgia. One of the reasons why the Baseball league started the boycott is because it objected to the state s election reform law. It followed after president Biden commented on the new law that required IDS for voters to be allowed to vote.

Former MLB Commissioner Fay Vincent came out firing shots at Rob Manfred after he made the decision to move the All-Star Game out of Atlanta after Georgia made changes to its voting laws. Vincent, who wrote an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal, said Manfred made a decision without first protesting the substance of the law.  He added that Manfred made a serious mistake , and the All-Star Game only benefits the city where the game is played, which means people working the game and local businesses around Atlanta’s ballpark will now suffer during the mid-summer exhibition.

He continued, It can t be only for the rich or the poor, nor can it only be for one race, as it was until 1947. Baseball must always stand above politics and its dark elements of corruption, greed and sordid selfishness. It can t go wrong by standing for national greatness. Last Friday, MLB announced that it would pull the game out of Georgia after Governor Brian Kemp signed a new law that requires stricter identification measures for absentee ballots, prohibits election officials from mailing out absentee ballots to eligible voters, and makes offering food and water to voters in line a criminal offense, among other restrictions.
