Aisha Buhari and The Other Book

  Two ‘heavyweight’ books will be publicly presented in Nigeria today, one in Lagos and the other in Abuja. I have read both. In Abuja, the combined forces of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr Tony Elumelu, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, Prince Arthur Eze, Hajiya Bola Shagaya and Mr Femi Otedola will present ‘Aisha Buhari: Being Different’ written by her publicist, Dr Hajo Sani. To chair the occasion is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In Lagos, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will lead eight governors to present ‘The Making of the Nigerian Flagship: The Story of The Guardian’ co-authored by Aaron Ukodie and O’seun Ogunseitan with contributions from several former pioneer staff of the newspaper.

The Nigerian Press instrumental to the birthing of Nigeria – Osinbajo On By Prisca Sam-Duru Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Thursday described the Nigerian media as being instrumental to the birthing of Nigeria. He made the assessment at the launch of a book on The Guardian and posthumous award to Mr. Alex Ibru, founder of The Guardian Newspaper which took place yesterday at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Tracing the history of the Nigerian press and of the Guardian Newspaper, the Vice President said, “To grasp the significance of The Guardian, it is important to situate its odyssey within the larger Nigerian story and particularly in the context of the evolution of the fourth estate in our country. The Nigerian press has deep roots going back about 150 years. Indeed, the Nigerian press came into existence before Nigeria itself and was instrumental to the birthing of this nation.”

Osinbajo expected at launch of book recalling Guardian’s first decade On Kindly Share This Story: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) is expected to grace the formal launch of the epochal book on The Guardian in Lagos in April. According to the book authors – Aaron Ukodie and O’seun Ogunseitan, Prof Osinbajo’s spokesman Laolu Akande confirmed that the VP would honour the invitation to be the Special Guest of Honour at the event. The book launch is scheduled to on 7 April 2021 with other dignitaries which include media moguls, public officials, politicians across the political divide, captains of industry, and other high-profile Nigerians.
