aonyon@leaderherald.com GLOVERSVILLE All schools in the Gloversville Enlarged School District are open today following confirmation of several new coronavirus cases in multiple buildings at the end of last week that required more than 40 students and staff members to quarantine. District Superintendent David Halloran notified families in a letter on Friday of the confirmation of four new coronavirus cases among students in three separate buildings. Three of those reported cases were among students from the same family who were present at school for a short time on Friday morning. The fourth case reported by the district was an unrelated self-contained student at Gloversville Middle School who was last in the building on Dec. 4.

(Photo submitted) GLOVERSVILLE Gloversville Enlarged School District Superintendent David Halloran detailed the district’s proposed $32.5 million capital project this week during a quiet public hearing ahead of next Tuesday’s scheduled referendum. Halloran on Monday gave a final presentation on the district’s proposed capital project during a public hearing attended by a handful of district staffers, project developers, Board of Education members and media. The $32.5 million project is expected to touch every building in the district to address safety, security, functionality and infrastructure needs without any anticipated impact to district taxpayers.

(The Leader-Herald/Ashley Onyon) GLOVERSVILLE After hearing from an extensive list of supporters and opponents of a proposed code blue shelter in the former YWCA building on Bleecker Street and following a lengthy deliberation on city code provisions, the Zoning Board of Appeals upheld the determination by the building inspector that the shelter is not allowed under city zoning code. The ZBA went on in their decision to provide shelter organizers the opportunity to amend their application in search of a variance to potentially advance the project.
