Scrap collector discovers body of dead man floating in Tongaat stream

DURBAN – KZN police are investigating a case of murder after the body of a 30-year-old was found floating in a stream in Tongaat yesterday.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the body was found with assault wounds in a stream at Flamingo Heights at about 10am.
The victim sustained injuries on the head and a case of murder was opened at Tongaat SAPS.
She said the motive was under investigation.
According to reaction unit boss Prem Balram, the partially naked body of the victim was discovered by a scrap collector.

With the disruption of COVID-19 barring most public in-person meetings, the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) will host tonight’s (March 8) meeting via Zoom.
Supervisor Dawn Rowe will attend to administer the swearing in of all MAC Board members. The meeting will also include elections for MAC Council positions of Chair, Co-Chair and Secretary.
The evening will feature public safety reports from local fire and law enforcement. The agenda also includes a Chairman’s Report as well as individual reports from each of the nine non-incorporated regions: Copper Mountain Mesa, Desert Heights, Flamingo Heights, Joshua Tree, Landers, Morongo Valley, Pioneertown, Wonder Valley, and Yucca Mesa.
Public assistance is required to locate 17-year-old Debra Melanie Gounden.
Gounden is a resident of Flamingo Heights in Tongaat. She left her residence on Monday (15/02/2021) and cannot be located since. Gounden is suspected of being in the company of Suhail who is required by SAPS Officials from the Phoenix Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for questioning in regards to the teenagers’ disappearance. Information on hand is that he resides in Trenance Park, Verulam. It is also believed that he drives a VW Golf 1.
