Dillon considers boat rental rate increase at marina

Photo by Sawyer D Argonne / sdargonne@summitdaily.com Dillon is considering increasing rental rates for pontoon boats at the marina this summer. Craig Simson, Dillon Marina operations manager, approached the Dillon Town Council during a regular work session meeting April 6 to discuss potential rate changes ahead of the boating season this year. He requested an increase in order to better keep up with boat replacements and to stay competitive with neighboring marinas throughout the area. Simson said recent rate increases across the lake at Frisco Bay Marina helped to influence the request. In December, the Frisco Town Council approved rental rate increases of 7% to 10% across the board along with an additional bump in price for holiday rentals.

Frisco Town Manager Nancy Kerry announces resignation

Photo by Liam Doran / Liam Doran Photography Frisco Town Manager Nancy Kerry publicly announced her resignation Thursday in what she called a “very difficult decision” to step down from the position to spend more time with her family. Kerry was named town manager in December 2018 and said she plans to stick around likely until late April or early May to ensure there is a smooth transition to an interim town manager and ultimately a replacement. In an interview with the Summit Daily News, Kerry said she loves her job, but the infrequency with which she was able to visit her family over the past year due to the pandemic has been difficult. After the sudden death of her sister-in-law, Chrissy, who she called a “bright light,” Kerry decided it was time to move closer to family.

Frisco will still accept Christmas tree donations after canceling Spontaneous Combustion Bonfire

Frisco is canceling the annual Spontaneous Combustion Community Bonfire this year due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. In lieu of the event, Frisco will be accepting Christmas trees at the Frisco Bay Marina from Saturday, Dec. 26 through Sunday, Jan. 31. Trees may be dropped of at the marina’s dirt lot on the corner of Summit Boulevard and Marina Road, and must be stripped of all lights, stands and decorations prior to drop off. Only real trees will be accepted. They will be chipped and repurposed. The tree drop-off is open 24 hours a day, and is available to anyone. The Spontaneous Combustion event also serves as an important fundraiser to benefit the Summit Nordic Ski Club. With the bonfire canceled, Frisco is encouraging community members to make a donation to the ski club at SummitNordic-SkiClub.squarespace.com
