PINE forest landowners have called on the Ministry of Forestry to reinstate licences granted to private sawmillers to allow them to harvest over-planted areas.
They claim the ministry issued notices two weeks ago to nine sawmillers on Vanua Levu, ordering them not to harvest pine in the areas.
Speaking on behalf of the nine mataqali in Navuniyevu Village, Bua, Sakiasi Delana said they preferred to deal with private sawmillers because they had always looked after the landowners’ needs.
