Picture: SUPPLIED A CHEQUE for $10,000 was presented to the Fiji Red Cross Society by the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation (Pte) Ltd (FPTCL) last week. FPTCL chief executive officer Antonio Takala said this was the second payout on behalf of the late Joyce Danraijie Heeraman’s estate. “At FPTCL, we carry out estates administration and when we are appointed executors or administrators, we must uphold that integrity. While end-of-life planning may seem morbid, a will is important and can protect you, your assets and especially your family not just after you die, but during your life as well,” said Mr Takala.

PS KARAN RECEIVES FAREWELL COURTESY CALL 25/02/2021 Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister, Immigration and Sugar Industry and Acting Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yogesh Karan today received a farewell courtesy call from the outgoing Head of Delegation for International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Country Cluster Delegation In The Pacific, Ms. Kathryn Clarkson, as her 5 years term concludes this month.   During a meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister, PS Karan thanked Ms. Clarkson for her leadership role in advancing the partnership between IFRC and Fiji.   On the aspects of IFRC’s role in Humanitarian support, PS Karan thanked IFRC and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for working collaboratively to mobilise assistance in communities affected by TC Yasa and TC Ana. The work undertaken by the Fiji Red Cross emergency response team in this regard was also acknowledged.

Picture: SUPPLIED THE Fiji Red Cross Society (FRC) received $50,000 from Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji (CCAF) and Coca-Cola Oceania (CCO) recently to aid in its Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa and TC Ana relief efforts in the North. CCAF general manager Pacific Islands, Roger Hare said Fijians were stoically recovering from Yasa and Ana but needed further help. “This donation will assist the society to set up water tanks for communities after the cyclones destroyed homes and buildings, as well as crops and livestock,” Mr Hare said.
