Taiwan shares end slightly higher despite consolidation 04/27/2021 06:08 PM CNA file photo Taipei, April 27 (CNA) Shares in Taiwan closed slightly higher Tuesday after hitting another record high late in the session even as the market was consolidating, dealers said. Large cap tech stocks largely came under pressure as investors pocketed earlier gains, while buying rotated to select old economy stocks amid optimism over a global recovery, they said. The Taiex, the Taiwan Stock Exchange s (TWSE) weighted index, ended up 23.61 points, or 0.13 percent, at 17,595.90, after moving between 17,489.71 and 17,630.19. Turnover totaled NT$496.01 billion (US$17.78 billion), the second highest single day total ever. After yesterday s solid gains, many big semiconductor stocks took a pause today, Cathay Futures Consultant analyst Tsai Ming-han said.
