Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and some chains, such as Baskin-Robbins and Krispy Kreme, are betting that, 10 months into the pandemic, some heart-shaped treats are in order. Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is being more subtle its seasonal treats both have a splash of red while Voodoo Doughnut’s monthly special is blue for some reason (but check back next week to see what it has planned for Feb. 14).

Dec. 15 Every month we run a long list of restaurant, grocery and brewery openings, closings and what will be coming soon. The COVID-19 crisis has upended the restaurant industry and pushed back many openings for weeks or months.
This month we have the return of a Leawood restaurant that has been closed since March and more than a dozen new eateries, including several dessert options and doughnut stops. But a half dozen locally-owned operations are closing permanently.
Openings Bravo Italian Kitchen in Leawood s Town Center Plaza, has been closed since the March shelter-in-place orders. Now the restaurant, at 5005 W. 117th St., has reopened under new corporate owners.

In efforts to boost holiday cheer, and no-doubt checks as well, a number of chains are adding new alcoholic beverages to its menu, including Bonefish Grill, which has a new signature white wine blend, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, which has a couple of new cocktails, Hot Head Burritos, which has a proprietary Margarita-like drink with MTN Dew, and Curry Up Now, which has a whole lineup of low-alcohol drinks.
