The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rebuked the Akufo-Addo government over recent incidents of assault and attacks by national security operatives in the country.
Citing the assault on
Citi FM‘s Caleb Kudah as well attempts to forcibly remove the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator from office, the party says the developments indicated a “dangerous erosion of the [country’s] democracy.”
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this degradation of our democracy by the Akufo-Addo government. We condemn the continuous abuse of our rights protected by the Constitution by the marauding and wayward administration of President Akufo-Addo.”

Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartety George, has taken on the National Security for the assault on Caleb Kudah stating that the actions of the personnel broke several laws.
“The National Security in this case with Caleb Kudah has broken Several laws. When I heard that Caleb’s phone was taken and used by national security officials to try and lure Zoe out, I said that is a criminal offense. The fact that Zoe was brought over and her phones were taken and she was asked to delete pictures unrelated to the instant that they were investigating is illegal not to talk about the violence that was meted out to Caleb.”
The management of Citi FM and Citi TV has petitioned the National Media Commission (NMC), over the arrest and alleged assault of its journalist, Caleb Kudah, and the subsequent invasion of the premises of the media house on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, by operatives of the National Security.

A Civil Society Organisation, OneGhana Movement wants the National Security probe into the alleged assault on Citi FM/TV s journalist Caleb Kudah be aborted.
The Movement said its position is necessitated by a similar promise the National Security Authority made in the assault of Modernghana s editor Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri who was arrested by the National Security operatives in a similar incident two years ago and nothing came out of it.
Caleb Kudah, Host of BackPage on Citi TV was allegedly assaulted by the National Security operatives who accused him of filming some abandoned cars at the Ministry of National Security, a restricted security zone on Tuesday.
