Sigma to the Rescue!
Right from the start: your mileage might vary here. I get that. I m only talking about myself, and when it comes to gear I m just one more guy with his own particular idiosyncratic tastes. We re all alike inasmuch as we re all different. So don t take this too hard.
However: in my history with reduced-sensor Sonys, the normal lens has persistently been an impediment.
You might say this is because I m persnickety, and you would be correct, but it s not like I m
entirely unable to adapt when it comes to lenses. When I bought my first DSLR, a Konica-Minolta 7D, used, in 2006, it came with a Konica-Minolta 28–75mm zoom (made for K-M by Tamron, and Tamron still sells versions of the lens today), and I used that one lens the whole time I had the camera. It was a 42–110mm, more or less, on the 7D.

A new standard prime has arrived in X-mount. Michael Topham requested a review sample to find out how it fares
Fujifilm users are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a fast prime lens that’s equivalent to 50mm in X-mount. Last year we witnessed Fujifilm add the affordable XC 35mm F2 (£169) to its lineup below the weather resistant and more durable XF 35mm F2 R WR (£379), both of which are smaller, lighter and cheaper than the XF 35mm F1.4 R (£489). Other alternatives include the manual focus only Samyang 35mm F1.2 ED AS UMC (£359) and the Zeiss Touit 1.8/32 (£589).

Fujifilm is one of the first names of photography, with a history that stretches back nearly a century. Photographers who are old enough to have used analog cameras best know the brand s film stocks it served as Kodak s biggest rival prior to the digital revolution, gaining traction by selling good film for fewer dollars.
In the digital era, Fujifilm has transitioned to be a more upmarket brand. It established its place with the X100, a fixed lens compact with a hybrid viewfinder and SLR-sized sensor absolutely innovative features a decade ago introducing a design philosophy with a strong emphasis on classic aesthetics and manual handling.
