In a joint press release, the Italian Ski Federation and the Russian Ski Federation have announced a collaboration in preparation for the upcoming Olympic season. As of now, the FIS Cross-Country Sprint World Cup winner from Italy, Federico Pellegrino and his team colleague Francesco de Fabiani will join the training squad of Marcus Cramer. Cramer, who is working with the Russian team will act as an external coach for the duo and include them in his training group which consists of Sergey Usitugov, Gleb Retivykh, Artem Maltsev and Evgeniy Belov on the mens side and strong pace makers such as Yulia Stupak on the womens side.

The grand finals of the COOP FIS Cross-Country World Cup season were held with the 30km/50km Pursuit competitions at Engadin valley in Switzerland. The course track of the Engadin Skimaraton was the stage for the long distance competitions as the traditional popular race could not take place due to Covid.
In Saturdays 10km C Mass start, the pole positions were distributed amongst Yulia Stupak (RUS), Heidi Weng (NOR) and Ebba Andersson (SWE). Also Laura Gimmler from Germany and the Overall World Cup winner Jessie Diggins from the USA set out in top positions to chase the leaders who had set out 16 and 30 seconds before them. On a course like the set 30km from St. Moritz to S-chanf, on high altitude, crossing open frozen lakes, with some headwind that blew in the layer of freshly fallen snow, team work became pivotal.
Diggins became just the second American to win the World Cup overall globe.
She finished the season with 1,347 points, besting Russiaâs Yulia Stupakâs 1,079. Stupak was third on Sunday, as Norwayâs Heidi Weng won. In the overall category, Ebba Andersson of Sweden â second on Sunday â was third with 1,011. That late performance allowed her to fend off another American, Rosie Brennan. Brennan finishes fourth in the World Cup overall with 919 points.
Diggins also won the distance category with 653 points. Andersson was second with 640, Stupak third with 619 and Brennan fourth with 484. Diggins was fourth in the sprint category for the season.
