A 28-year-old man has died following a skateboarding accident last Sunday.
“The Yukon Coroner’s Service confirms that a Whitehorse man has died as the result of a fall while riding a skateboard,” the office said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
Robert Thompson was found injured on Hamilton Boulevard just before 6 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 6:19 a.m.
“It appeared that Mr. Thompson had been riding eastward on his skateboard on a downhill stretch towards the Alaska Highway when he lost control,” the coroner’s office said.
“He was not wearing any protective gear, and an autopsy has confirmed that he suffered a fatal head injury.”
