The acting leader of the opposition Democratic Party for the People, who has been at odds with the party leader over policy issues, announced on Nov. 30 that he will leave the DPP and start his own party.
Former Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara said Thursday that he has decided to leave the opposition Democratic Party for the People, which has recently moved closer to the ruling bloc, to form a new force in parliament.
