When last week’s floods hit the County Borough, the council, emergency services and other partners responded but there were also many local residents who played their part too. One of those people who did something kind that helped ensure her community stayed safe during the worst of Storm Christoph was Rae Pritchard, who runs the after-school club at Ysgol Sant Dunawd’s in Bangor-on-Dee. With the River Dee raging at 1am on January 21, Ms Pritchard received a phone call from the council asking if she could open up the school, so it could act as an assembly point for people being evacuated from the village.

Communities have been praised for their reactions to the flooding that hit parts of Wrexham last week.
One local resident highlighted for helping their community stay safe during the worst of Storm Christoph is Rae Pritchard, who runs the after-school club at Ysgol Sant Dunawd’s in Bangor-on-Dee.
At 1am last Thursday morning with the River Dee raging nearby Rae received a phone-call from Wrexham Council asking if she could open up the school, so it could act as an assembly point for people being evacuated from the village.
