Posted: Thu 6th May 2021 Wrexham primary school pupils raise over £700 after being inspired by the late Captain Sir Tom Primary school pupils in Wrexham have raised more than £700 for charity after being inspired by the late Captain Sir Tom Moore. The years 5 and 6 classes at Ysgol Maes y Mynydd, in Rhos, joined together to host a fundraiser in aid of Nightingale House Hospice. Inspired by the efforts of the late Captain Sir Tom Moore who raised almost £33 million for the NHS by walking a hundred laps of his garden, the children decided to hold the ‘Year 5 and 6 Captain Tom 4×100 Mile Relay Challenge’.

If you would like to feature anything from your school, please email claire.pierce@newsquest.co.uk • St Mary s RC Primary School, Wrexham St Mary s RC School pupils Archie White, Amelia Jedut and Violet Edge celebrate their virtual walk from Wrexham to Paris. Children in Year 3 at the school enjoyed a French-themed party before the Easter holiday, to celebrate their success in completing a virtual walk challenge in aid of Awyr Las, a local NHS charity which provides various equipment for the hospitals in North Wales. The walk raised £602 for the charity. The children had a great day, which included dancing, lots of party food and games.
