Parties renew alliances ahead of by-polls
PML-F supports PTI in Malir, PML-N throws weight behind PPP

Days ahead of by-elections in three constituencies of Sindh, the Pakistan Muslims League-Functional (PML-F) announced its support for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) allied with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
In the wake of these developments, the PML-F will not field its candidate against the PTI in the by-poll for PS-88 in Malir, and the PML-N will not be contesting against the PPP in all three of the constituencies.

PPP has named Ameer Ali Shah, Jam Shabbir Ali and Yousuf Baloch as candidates for the by-election on three seats in Sindh. Polling will take place on February 16.
Shah will contest on PS-52 Umerkot, Ali on PS-43 Sanghar and
Baloch on PS-88 Malir, Karachi.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has given candidates until December 28 to file their nomination papers. Scrutiny of the documents will be completed by January 4, and candidates will be able to challenge the decision by January 8.
