The protection management plan for Beijing's Central Axis from 2022 to 2035 was released on Saturday, marking a new stage in its conservation, sustainable development and application as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Beijing Tianqiao promotional activities came to an end on Wednesday, and the 32 public events have not only enriched the capital s night life, but also helped to boost the Beijing Central Axis in seeking UNESCO World Heritage status at the World Heritage Committee in 2024.
Activities aimed at encouraging the public to join in understanding and promoting history and culture along the Beijing Central Axis have been recently held one after another, attracting hundreds of young students, including some from other countries, to experience the charm of Chinese culture.
The axis, one of the most important representations of Chinese civilization, refers to the core area of the ancient capital city that stretches for 7.8 kilometers from the Yongding Gate in the south to the Bell Tower and Drum Tower in the north.
