JAKARTA, May 4 (dpa): Two Chinese ships have arrived in Indonesia to help salvage the wreckage of a military submarine that sank off Bali last month with 53 crew members on board.
The Nantuo-195 tug ship and the Yong Xing Dao-863 salvage and rescue vessel belonging to the People s Liberation Army arrived in Bali s waters on Sunday, the Indonesian Navy said on Monday. The offer of help has been welcomed by the Indonesian government, the navy said.
The ships are equipped with remotely-operated vehicles and sonar technology and are capable of conducting a salvage operation of objects as deep as 4,500 metres, the statement said.
