The president says its an effort to prevent a genocide. Its happening in the sinjar mountains in the northwestern area of iraq. They were forced into the area as the takeover of iraqi resources continues to expand. Tara mergener reports from washington. Reporter last week she was part of the medical team treating first patient diagnosed with with ebola in the u. S. Shes back inside Texas Health Presbyterian hospital in isolation, now fighting the deadly disease herself. It is deeply concerning this infection occurred. Reporter a review from the centers for Disease Control blames a breach in hospital protocol for the infection. The woman had extensive contact with Thomas Eric Duncan before his death, including when he was placed on dialysis and a ventilator as his condition got worse and he became more infectious. Officials say she wore a protective suit, but experts warn problems can occur after treatment, when that suit is removed. You might have fluid on your equipment, might have infectious stuff on your hands. Getting it off effectively without contaminating yourself is hard. Reporter

Much of the country is facing a rough weather week with bitter cold, biting winds and snow. This is what the commute looks like in minneapolis this morning. The midwest is already bracing for the impact, getting out snowplows and salt, for what may be the first serious snowfall of the season. Nbc meteorologist bill karins has more on what we are in for this week. It is not a treat there in the minneapolis area. You like your first snow to see a couple of flakes, not a foot of snow for your first snowstorm of the season. But thats what theyre staring at right now in minneapolis, the heavy snow that is set up over the dakotas, minneapolis to northern wisconsin. Thats the chance of a foot of snow today into tonight. By this time tomorrow morning, the snow will be ind iending. It is mostly the Northern Plains and a narrow stripe. Behind the storm, the arctic air, it is already into montana.
