UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. A plant cell wall s unique ability to expand without weakening or breaking a quality required for plant growth is due to the movement of its cellulose skeleton, according to new research that models the cell wall. The new model, created by Penn State researchers, reveals that chains of cellulose bundle together within the cell wall, providing strength, and slide against each other when the cell is stretched, providing extensibility.

Come Together CK volunteers are taking tomatoes from the greenhouse to your house.
They were on Chatham’s north side on May 5, handing out thousands at home and to pedestrians.

The tomatoes were purchased from Blenheim-area greenhouse Platinum Produce, which was selling $5 flats to a long line-up of customers rather than let the tomatoes spoil. COVID-19 restrictions on restaurants had left the greenhouse with a surplus of produce.
One donor purchased enough for the community of Shrewsbury, so volunteers went door to door this past weekend giving away more than 2,000 tomatoes. That inspired the tomato drive in Chatham.

Proteins play crucial role in muscle growth
When a muscle grows, because its owner is still growing too or has started exercising regularly, some of the stem cells in this muscle develop into new muscle cells.
The same thing happens when an injured muscle starts to heal.
