Two earthquakes hit Hualien in four minutes early Monday morning

Taipei, July 19 (CNA) Two earthquakes rocked Hualien, eastern Taiwan, in four minutes early Monday morning with no immediate damage or injuries reported, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The first temblor with a magnitude of 3.9 took place at 2:40 a.m., and was centered 6.9 kilometers south southwest of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 8.6 km, according to the CWB s Seismology Center.
The CWB said the earthquake s intensity, which gauges its actual effect, was highest in Hualien City, where it measured 4 on Taiwan s 7-tier intensity scale.

Taipei, July 14 (CNA) A total of 30 earthquakes jolted Hualien County in eastern Taiwan Wednesday morning, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said, warning it was possible for the county to experience more temblors in the coming week.
According to the CWB, a total of 30 earthquakes largely hit Jian township of Hualien and the coastal area near the township between 6:52 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. on Wednesday, with the quakes ranging in magnitude from 2.9 to 5.2.
The CWB said these temblors were the aftershocks of the doublet earthquake that shook the area on July 7-8.

Taipei, July 13 (CNA) Two earthquakes hit Hualien County, eastern Taiwan, at around 7:41 a.m. Tuesday, but no immediate damage or injuries were reported, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The two quakes took place only 20 seconds away, the CWB said, adding such a close interval was not unusual in Hualien, a subduction zone comprising the Eurasian plate and the Philippine Sea plate.
The first, a magnitude 3.4 temblor, was centered 5.6 kilometers south of Hualien County Hall and occurred at a depth of 5.5 km, the CWB s Seismology Center said.
The earthquake s highest intensity, which gauges its actual effect, was highest in Hualien City and Yanliao township in Hualien County, where it measured 3 on Taiwan s 7-tier intensity scale, the CWB said.
