No one ever has doubted the tools. Estevan Florial had all five when the Yankees signed the lefty-swinging, righty-throwing Dominican as a 17-year-old in March 2015 for just $200,000.

The Yankees are giving their new outfielder a chance to do something right away.
Ryan LaMarre, called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, will be in the Yankees’ lineup for their series finale against the Baltimore Orioles. The right-handed hitter/left-handed thrower was called up to replace center fielder Aaron Hicks, who is on the injured list with a left wrist injury that the Yankees are calling a sprain.

Saturday’s pre-game news from Baltimore on Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks was encouraging. His left wrist, which has a sheath tendon tear, was feeling better with two days of anti-inflammatory medicine. This development perhaps was an indication that Hicks might avoid surgery, which may be season ending, or perhaps not even need to go on the IL.
