Three refineries processed no crude in January – NNPC

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 14 May 2021 Latest operations report of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation indicates that Nigeria’s refineries under the management of NNPC could not refine a drop of crude oil amid concerns by the Nigeria Labour Congress over the comatose state of the facilities. In its most recent financial and operations report, the national oil firm stated that the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, Port Harcourt Refining Company and Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company processed no crude oil in January this year. Although it attributed this to the rehabilitation of the facilities, findings showed that the refineries had remained dormant in terms of crude oil refining, as all-through 2020 their cumulative capacity utilisation was also zero.

Niger Gov. calls for stiffer penalty for bandits', kidnappers, others

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has charged the Judiciary and the Legislature to come up with stiffer penalties on bandits, kidnappers and their informants in the state. Governor Bello stated this during the swearing – in of Justice Aisha Lami Bawa Bwari as the Chief Judge of the State at the Government House, Minna. Bello noted that banditry and Kidnapping activities are carried out in conjunction with members of the communities, stressed that the informants should as well undergo the same penalties with both the bandits and the kidnappers. “With the increased insecurity in the inter lands especially in our rural areas where lives are lost on daily basis due to banditry and kidnapping, the parliament and the Judiciary should come up with stiffer penalties for those involved in these activities especially the informants.

2023: Kogi Lawmakers visit Niger Assembly, seek support for Yahaya Bello

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna. Kogi State House of Assembly members led by its speaker, Hon. Mathew Kolawole, have paid an advocacy visit to the Niger State House of Assembly to seek support for endorsement of Governor Yahaya Bello for the 2023 Presidential election. Kolawole said that the Kogi lawmakers were in Minna and the State Assembly to solicit for the support of Niger state in the aspiration of their governor, adding that their visit is an indication of a good working relationship between Niger and Kogi. He lamented that the North Central geo – political zone of the country, since the current democratic dispensation has not been able to have a shot at presidency, insisting that 2023 is the time for the zone to produce the president.
