Beijing: In what underlines the curbs on media freedom in China, police in the eastern city of Nanjing have detained a blogger for social media posts regarding the Chinese casualties in the Galwan clash with the Indian Army. The blogger - Qiu Ziming - was charged with picking quarrels and provoking trouble , a charge China has often being pressing against those who challenge the government s narrative. Most recently, a Chinese blogger was imprisoned under the same charges for her posts over the COVID-19 crisis in China.

Police in China have arrested a blogger over comments he made about Chinese soldiers who died in a Himalayan border clash with Indian troops last year.
The 38-year-old man had maliciously distorted the truth about the conflict, said authorities.
He is one of at least seven people that China has detained for their allegedly inappropriate remarks on this incident.
The incident, which took place last June, was the first deadly clash in the disputed border area in 45 years.
