Traffic stop sends man to jail on gun and drug charges According to the police report: As an officer approached the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was immediately noticeable. The officer identified a passenger as Xavier Perez. While he was being searched, Perez admitted to having a handgun. The officer found a loaded .40 caliber handgun in his shoulder holster. They also found a jar under the passenger seat that contained marijuana. Perez said it belonged to him. A records check found Perez had no felony convictions, however he did not have a license to carry a gun. Police arrested Perez and charged him with Unlawful Carrying a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana. He also had warrants for his arrest.
