IU-grad Miles Taylor: “The Republican Party Is A Sinking Ship”
WASHINGTON The Republican Party as it is today is a “sinking ship”, says the former chief of staff for Homeland Security in the Trump administration.
Miles Taylor, a lifelong Republican, Indiana University-graduate, and the man who wrote an anonymous tell-all book about the administration while he was working for Homeland Security, has founded a group of current and former GOP lawmakers and high profile individuals, who vehemently disagree with where the Republican Party is headed.
“Frankly, we came to the conclusion that if he didn’t band together, the pro-democracy movement would fracture,” Taylor told WISH-TV’s All Indiana Politics.

In an internal election, Republican lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to make the fourth-term Congresswoman representing the North Country as the Republican Party’s new Conference Chair in the House.
Stefanik brushed aside an 11
th hour challenge from Texas Representative Chip Roy to secure the position, which is the third-highest Republican role in the House. Stefanik received 134 while Roy got 46 votes for the position.

On his website, former President Trump joined other Republicans in calling for Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney to be removed from her leadership position in the House. Cheney voted to impeach Trump after the January 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol. Since then, she’s continued to criticize Republicans for perpetuating the “big lie” that the election was stolen from Trump. Aside from Senator Mitt Romney, she is the only leader in her party to do so. It shows that four months after the insurrection, the party remains in the thrall of Trump.

Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan asked Cheney about former Republican speaker John Boehner saying that January 6th was an example of “political terrorism” and how the events of that day should have been a wake-up call for the GOP. Boehner, the host said, doesn’t understand why more Republicans don’t speak up. Brennan then noted how Trump has threatened to back a primary challenge against Cheney and asked if speaking out against him was “worth the risk.”
